Understanding the art within Texas.

I've had the pleasure of living in San Antonio for nearly 8 years now. What started as a career move unrelated to photography turned my eyes into particularly sharp identifiers for Texas's hills and plains, where quaint ideas are tucked in plain view.

These ideas and concepts range from the over-arching structure of a tree amongst other dry vegetation or the materials of earth constructed precisely and stunningly, these properties hidden within the common woods of the area. We call them rustic, vintage, rugged, arid . . .

Texas has the lush side full of big cities within hills formed of either dark or desaturated greenery affected by the harsh but useful sun. Then there's the dry side, places like Marfa or further in EL Paso, where mountains reside for the dry and xeriscape lovers. I genuinely enjoy both; it's sometimes hard to choose which I enjoy more, but I look forward to capturing more shades of Texas, from the materials used to the nature's vastness.

These scenes are primarily from the towns of Fredericksburg and Wimberley. Fredericksburg, which is known for it's wineries, Enchanted Rock, and it's spunky town environment, and Wimberley, known primarily for its sweet designed local shops, small town charm, and quiet lakes, are places I frequently visit for numerous purposes. A road trip to these towns unravel the underrated American hills and plains where many may only believe they exists in places like California and farther northwest from the state.
